Everybody Needs A Friend is a fantasy written specifically to be performed by 8 to 16 year olds. It tells the story of a Spider (a figment of somebody’s imagination!) who tries to find friends for Little Miss Muffett and Little Jumping Joan.
On the way they meet many strange characters including the boy who went up to the moon with the old woman, four strange, clumsy fairies, a juggler who can only juggle one ball at a time, Mad Margaret, the Cheshire Cat, The Queen of Hearts, four very bored ladies-in-waiting, a mad cook with Polly and Sukey and others.
The settings are simple.
Act One: a woodland glade, as simple or complex as you like or have room for.
Act Two: The throne room at the Royal Palace. Again it can be simple with just two thrones or, if you have the room, something a bit more complex.
There are 32 musical numbers (Some repeats) and a minimum of dialogue.
The music varies from country style waltzes, swing, jazz, rock’n’roll and techno/ dance styles. Some of the melodies are simple, others a little challenging but all songs are tuneful. For a copy of the script and more samples of the backing tracks please email me.
